Пач (свързващ) панел или директно свързване със суича / компютъра

Good practices, as well as the standards for building copper computer networks assume that at the end the network cables will have female connectors - sockets or patch panel. This is the way to bulid the main channel (permanent link). It consists ot cable for the main link, patch panel and socket and is long 90 meters max.

This is the way to make permanent connection – the section made in this way is not affected by movements, switching on and off, and therefore only such networks are provided with a system guarantee.

The other way is practically possible – a direct connection, but:

  • Despite saving reconnections (4 allowed by the standard), you will get uncertain connection. Putting connectors on a cable for the main distance is not recommended. RJ45 connectors make better contact with flexible (stranded) patch cables.
  • You'll not have the option to arrange and label the LAN cables, and maintenance is therefore more difficult.
  • If a problem occurs with a route, you may need to re-route the cable, whereas if you have made a permanent connection with a patch panel, you will simply replace the small, connecting patch cable.

To summarize: We know that a wired computer network is built in a star shape. From a center (where the router or switch will be) cables are run to each workstation. In this central location terminate the cables to a patch panel. Maybe you will need there also a communication cabinet.

At the other end – it is appropriate to use sockets at workplaces (built into the walls or external).

Use factory-built patch cords for connection to the router or computers.

This is the way to have a solidly built network, which will serve you for many years.
